People

An integral part of working in the public realm is working with people.  I see myself as having a socially-engaged practice, by this I mean that the work emanates and develops from its social context.  My research and development takes the form of workshops, conversations and meetings with the site-users, clients and contractors.  By talking and communicating with people, I aim to ensure flexibility of ideas and that the resulting work is ‘rooted’ in the community and ultimately resonates with the life of the area and its constituents.

I work and collaborate with arts consultants, architects, developers, site managers, builders, other artists/makers, council officers, clinicians, patients, teachers, children, young people, parents ….to name a few.  I make full use of the wider arts community and like to collaborate with other artists as much as possible, such as writers, blacksmiths or typographers.  I also mentor other artists and am part of a peer mentoring group at Fabrica, Brighton.

Workshops/engagement programmes

I have over fifteen year’s experience of delivering high quality community and education projects.  As well as engagement programmes as part of a commission; I also offer stand alone workshops as part of conferences, visitors’ day (at public venues e.g. BIG DRAW events) and school projects.
