Places

I have a wealth of experience with commissioning in the public and built environment.  I intervene within these environments in all sorts of ways and to all sorts of budgets.  Working with new-build projects is a strong feature of my practice and I am fully cognisant of working within PFI contracts, collaborating with design and M&E teams and fully aware of objectives for accessibility, health & safety, durability and maintenance in demanding environments.

I have been Lead Artist on a number of developments and have a good track record of identifying opportunities and implementing art into schemes.  As a lead artist I have designed features for interior design schemes, collaborated with design teams and led on the blueprints for art interventions/commissions and engagement projects.

All my commissions involve undertaking workshops and consultation within the site location and with different user or client groups.  This is what I do: have lots of conversations, research and question a place and context, each project then evolves unique and particular to its own situation and given limitations.

Architectural Interventions

Whilst my background is in glass, my engagement with the built environment has led me to use a huge range of materials and production techniques.  For instance, the art features might range from mosaics or light boxes built into walls to large, multi-faceted integrated landscaping or interior schemes. I may create the work in a studio, on site-with participants, or it may be fabricated and installed by my sub-contractors or the contractors to a new-build.
